About the talk

The roundtable consultation was part of the inception process of the MoWR Research Chair – Water Conflicts and Governance. It served to engage States on policy, legal and constitutional matters of interstate river water governance. The roundtable aimed at brainstorming a research agenda for pursuing India’s interstate river water cooperation ecosystem and discussing the experiences of implementing interstate river development and rejuvenation projects to distil insights for policy directions towards an ecosystem of interstate river water cooperation.

The Roundtable observed active participation from at least 60 top government officials of States’ Water Resources Departments, the Secretary, MoWR, DR&GR, executive heads of CWC, CPR, and the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage, among others, like the National Water Development Agency (NWDA) and National Mission on  Clean Ganga (NMCG).
