Centre for Policy Research, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi

The Supreme Court has recently given its judgement in the Cauvery river water dispute, on 16 February 2018. The Court has also directed the government of India (GoI) to constitute a mechanism for implementing its decision within the next six weeks. Considering the not so encouraging record of interstate coordination over implementation of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal’s (CWDT) award, it has been felt that there is a need to think of ‘out of box’ solutions, beyond the known templates of and practices of interstate coordination for river water sharing. This Roundtable consultation seeks to pool in insights from experts and well known practitioners of the field in this direction. The Roundtable will follow an open-ended conversation format; no formal paper presentations are expected. The event is restricted to invited participants. The proceedings may be audio-recorded for the purpose of preparing proceedings The Roundtable will have the following sessions.
